Nazareth Travel - AttractionsNazareth RestaurantsNazareth Hotels

For Christians, Nazareth evokes strong emotions and connections to their faith. The city is revered as the home of Jesus during his formative years and early ministry and is the cradle of Christianity. Here the angel Gabriel told Mary that she would conceive by the Holy Spirit. Nazareth combines religion and faith, with thousands of years of history, compelling archeology, and traditional Middle Eastern hospitality and charm.

When Christians returned to live in this city in the 19th century they built and rebuilt churches and monasteries. Today Nazareth, the largest Arab city in Israel boasts dozens of churches and monasteries together with mosques and ancient synagogues.
In 2000, Nazareth underwent major renovations. The flagstones in the alleyways of the Old City were cleaned walls were sandblasted, buildings restored.

Nazareth has the largest marketplace in the country and visitors  can wander the ancient streets and enjoy the sights, sounds, tastes, and fragrances of an authentic modern Middle Eastern city.
Nazareth is a walking city and has been the recipient of extra funds for improving roads, walkways, lights and overall appearance in honor of the visit of Pope Benedict XVI in May 2009. Walking through the city is a pleasure, whether strolling through the bustling friendly market, enjoying the facades of the picturesque houses or hiking along Mount Precipice with its splendid views of Israel’s green and gorgeous north.

Nazareth’s hotel, the Golden Crown often hosts weekends dedicated to musical themes and cultures the most recent being dedicated to New Orleans jazz and Mardi Gras and featuring some of Israel’s best jazz and blues musicians. Other weekend musical and cultural themes included Beethoven with an emphasis on piano music and a weekend devoted to Italian music and cultural. Along with the music the hotel offers exquisite kosher Arabic cuisine prepared in a European style that is a cut above most Israeli hotel food.
