Davis Cup - Israel Makes History

For the first time ever the Israel Davis Cup Tennis team has advanced to the semi-finals of the competition. This magnificent sports achievement puts Israel at the very summit of international tennis, among the top 4 teams in the world.

Harel Levy and Dudi Sela stunned the powerful Russian team with sensational winning performances in the first two singles matches. Andy Ram and Yoni Erlich, Israel’s world class doubles duo, completed the shutout of the Russians before an electrified crowd of 11,000 fans at Tel Aviv’s Nokia Arena on July 11. Levy, ranked number 210 in the world defeated a Russian player ranked number 24 and Sela took care of his Russian opponent also ranked significantly higher than him. Ram and Erlich needed 5 sets of exciting even nerve-wracking tennis to propel Israel into the semi-finals.

Next up for Israel is the powerful Spanish team. The matches will be played in Spain in September. But Davis Cup history for Israel has already been made!
