Eilat Attractions

Every tour in Eilat can be booked, either through special desks in all the hotels, or on several spots on the broadwalk.

Swim with the Dolphins:  A group of “bottlenose” dolphins, including babies, continue their daily routine within the confines of our center.  The dolphins enjoy contact with people and their choice to approach them is entirely theirs. They are curious and love to play with humans.  Visitors can observe them, either from floating piers, observation points, or guided swims.

Underwater Observatory:
The marine underwater observatory and nature museum exhibits the fantastic corals and multi-colored exotic fish which are indigenous to the area.  See the shark and turtles swimming around in their own special tanks.  If you would like to explore further there is a ship “Coral 2000” which goes down 6 meters and the ride takes 20 minutes.

Diving in Eilat: In Eilat you can find world class diving.  The Local nature reserve hosts a reef of over 1,200 long, and divers from all over the world come to sample is underwater wonders.  There are 10 dive centers in Eilat with 20 different diving sites.  Most can be accessed from the beach. 

As a certified diver you will be asked to show the following documents:
1. Diving certificate – a card with name and picture from a known dive organization (such as PADI, CMAS, NAUI, SSI, IANTD, TDI, ACUC, and others).
2. Divers log book – indicating you have been diving in the last 6 months. Divers who haven't been diving more than 6 months will be asked to join a refresh dive before they participate in other dive activities.
3. Divers Insurance – specific divers insurance which covers recompression chamber treatment or any other necessary medical treatment for diving incident. One can be purchased at every dive center.

There are of course diving courses and these can be taken from various diving centers.


Jeep Tours
: There are various types of jeep tours from Eilat, all include a few hours deep in the desert. Some go to a lookout spot where you can see the three neighboring countries.  Some go at dusk, and you get the opportunity of seeing the sunset in the desert.  Its gorgeous, with all the varied colors of the surrounding mountains, and then the stars come out…. Thousands and thousands of them.  The night sky in the desert is legendary.  The sky is particularly clear and it’s a sight to see.  There are tours to see the migrating flamingoes, the watering holes of the Ibex.  Most stop for coffee or sweet tea with the Bedouins.  It’s a great experience.


One day tour to Petra
: This tours departs Eilat daily and crosses the border with Jordan in Akaba.  It’s a two hour drive from Akaba to Petra.  There are horses in Petra to take you to the Siq canyon, which is one of the main attractions in Petra.  A half an hour walk and you arrive at one of the wonders of the world.  An archaeological phenomenon and an astonishing city. Legends, truths, myths all abound.  It is an unforgettable tour.


The Desert:
About 17 miles north of Eilat is the Timna National Park.  This is an area which is a good place for hiking, jeep tours and camel rides.  It is the site of the oldest  copper mines in the world and reputed to have been run by King Solomon.  There is an artificial lake and it’s a popular recreational area.


Hai Bar is the wildlife reserve,
not far from Eilat.  It is an 8,000 acre sanctuary for many rare and endangered desert animals.  You can tour the reserve, but don’t be disappointed if you don’t see too many animals during the heat of the day….. But leopards, cheetahs, hyenas gazelles and ostriches do live there. 


Bird Migration
:   Eilat is at the intersection of three continents and is therefore ideal to watch the bi-annual migration of millions of birds.  There is a Spring migration festival from 23rd to 30th March.  Every morning there is an explanation of the exciting migration.  Over 500 species of birds fly through the area, on their way to and from Africa.
The Israel Ornithological Center has timed a program to coincide with the peak week of Israel’s spring migration.  This includes activities for nature lovers and birders of all levels.  There are free guided tours to the best birding hotspots.

Kings City:  Is a high-tech theme park for all the family, based on bible stories.  You will see the replicas of the waterfalls of King Solomon.  There is a time elevator, with swivel chairs taking you back thousands of years in time to see Adam and Eve, ancient Egypt, Mount Sinai and more!


A floating day!
:  It is possible to spend half a day, or an evening on a boat, floating across the bay of Akaba.  Lunch or dinner is served, and it is possible to snorkel from the boat and see the gorgeous coral reef, close up, and away from the shore.  There is music, the atmosphere is great, and it’s a relaxing way to spend time.
