After deciding to cancel their planned performance in Israel in 2006 the British band DePeche Mode will launch their 2009 world tour in Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park in early May. DePeche Mode is one of the most successful and influential bands to emerge from the New Wave Era and has sold upwards of 75 million albums worldwide. Its albums have hit the top of the charts in the US, UK, and Europe.
Israeli producer Shuki Weiss and the band’s impresario and German producer Marek Liberberg are teaming up to bring the band to Israel. Since the 2006 cancellation the band’s members including keyboardist Andrew Fletcher, have talked about their desire to perform in front of their many fans in Israel. In a recent interview Liberberg expressed his hope that Israeli fans will be lucky this time around and enjoy a live performance on their home turf. DePeche Mode thus kicks off the summer performance season in Tel Aviv-this year celebrating its 100th Anniversary!
