Jewish Canadian singer Leonard Cohen will arrive in Israel to perform at the Ramat Gan Stadium in September. After some initial confusion over conflicting dates the Stadium management and Cohen’s producer Marcel Abraham have announced that the performance will take place on September 18. Cohen visited Israel in 1973 and performed for IDF combat soldiers including the wounded.
2008 was a banner year for Cohen as he returned to sold-out live stage performances worldwide. 2008 was also marked by his induction into the American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Cohen has been composing music and poetry for over 40 years and his themes include spirituality, religion, sexuality, isolation and power. He is considered to be one of the most important and influential songwriters of the past decades.
