Jerusalem Travel Guide

Parking
If you’ve decided that Jerusalem car rental is the solution for you, below are some tips that could be useful.
Parking in Jerusalem can be a daunting challenge. Commercial  pay parking lots are available in the center of town but the number of spaces is limited. Due to the construction of the light rail system Jerusalem’s roads can be congested and difficult to navigate. One idea is to park in a neighborhood away from the city center and hop a bus or cab to downtown or the gates of the Old City. Jerusalem is a walking town with a popular pedestrian promenade in the center.
As in other cities in Israel curbs painted with blue and white stripes means parking is permitted with the use of a voucher displayed in the car that can be purchased from street machines. Parking meters are also used in commercial districts.

Road Conditions
Since Jerusalem is an ancient built literally over thousands of years, driving in Jerusalem requires some research and especially a good map.  The city is built on a series of hills so be prepared for up and down driving. The main street-Jaffa Road is closed to private cars. Adjacent to many major attractions you can find parking lots but some sites are simply not accessible by private car. Driving in Jerusalem requires patience and a high degree of alertness. Traffic jams are not uncommon so always plan for more time to arrive at your destinations than seems necessary at first glance.
